Painting for Preservation: Allegheny Commons Bridge

Join the Young Preservationists Association of Pittsburgh (YPA) for their next “Painting for Preservation” event that will take place in Allegheny Commons Park. In an effort to highlight the missing Pedestrian Bridge and the need to replace it, YPA will be meeting at the Pedestrian Bridge and they are inviting you to join them. The Pedestrian Bridge was on YPA’s 2014 Top Ten list, which identified the Top Ten Best Preservation Opportunities in the Pittsburgh Area that may be endangered but have a good chance for survival and reuse.

The Young Preservationists Association will be joined by Allegheny Commons Initiative and Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. You will have an opportunity to view a painting done by a professional artist of what the Pedestrian Bridge could look like. In addition, professional artists will be on site to provide painting techniques. You will enjoy live music, refreshments, and other fun activities.

In conjunction with Open Streets Pittsburgh, Painting for Preservation will be held on Sunday, July 31, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm in Allegheny Commons Park, next to the Pedestrian Bridge. For more information, visit the Painting for Preservation: Allegheny Commons Bridge event page. Come out and have some fun while showing your support for preservation on the Northside!
