Friday, October 20 at 8:00 pm
Alphabet City presents an evening of free jazz with the James Johnson III Group. Percussionist James Johnson III will be joined by popular jazz vocalist Carolyn Perteete, Bobby Selvaggio on saxophone, and Clifford Barnes on the Hammond organ. The music blends jazz, soul, and pop. Tutored by his father, a legendary jazz drummer, James has been playing the drums since the age of 5 and has been a regular fixture in local jazz circles since he was 15. He has toured with legendary jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal, launching his worldwide career.
