Christoph Irniger Pilgrim Quintet
Sunday, December 8 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm
The Christoph Irniger Pilgrim Quintet debuts their newest jazz collaboration, Crosswinds, on the Alphabet City stage. Founded by tenor saxophonist Christoph Irniger, Pilgrim is one of the most exciting ensembles in young European Jazz.  Crosswinds is a luxuriantly open recording that uses ambiguity as a tool. Some compositions are freely improvised, while others are completely notated, yet most lie in between, with an elasticity that reflects a life of freedom. The group specializes in a dense, well rounded sound.
