City of Asylum @ Alphabet City, located at 40 West North Avenue, is the permanent home for City of Asylum programming and the arts. It promises to be a hub for Pittsburgh’s readers and writers, jazz and small-scale music and performance, and artistic experimentation. It is a home for diverse voices from around the globe – a place where Pittsburgh meets the world and the world meets Pittsburgh. Spend an evening listening to jazz with the Paul Thompson Trio! Paul Thompson is proud to have been a part of Pittsburgh’s jazz community for over 20 years. He can be seen performing locally with Roger Humphries, Sean Jones, Salsamba, OPEK, the Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra, and many others. Paul is an adjunct music teacher at his alma mater: Pittsburgh CAPA 6-12 Performing Arts School, as well as a guest artist and lecturer at West Virginia University and West Virginia Weslyan College. This swinging trio features Sky Visco on saxophone, Paul Thompson on bass, and Marvin Irish on drums.
