Silenced Films: The Last Temptation of Christ

Come to City of Asylum’s Alphabet City Tent for a free screening of The Last Temptation of Christ, the 1988 American epic drama film directed by Martin Scorsese.

Like the novel, the film depicts the life of Jesus Christ and his struggle with various forms of temptation including fear, doubt, depression, reluctance, and lust. The film was banned in dozens of countries for being blasphemous toward Christianity. It is possibly one of the most infamously banned films of all time.

Silenced Films: The Last Temptation of Christ will be shown on Thursday, August 25, from 8:00 to 10:00 pm at the Alphabet City Tent, located at 318 Sampsonia Way. For more information, or to reserve your free seat, visit the Silenced Films: The Last Temptation of Christ event page, call 412-323-0278, or email info@cityofasylumpittsburgh.org. This event is BYOB.

The Silenced Films Series, co-presented by Jacob Burns Film Center, features screenings of international films banned or censored around the world.
