A Reading: By The Women Writers of Northview Heights

Join Neu Kirche Contemporary Art Center as they showcase the creativity of the Women Writers of Northview Heights. The Women Writers will be presenting a reading of their favorite personal poems and writings on life, love, family and the future.

Women Writers is an innovative art program led by local Pittsburgh artist, Hudson Rush, who encouraged the self-expression of ten women through storytelling in both written and verbal forms. The artist has been mentoring the Women of the Northview Heights Family Support Center since July of 2015 in weekly writing workshops that have elevated these women’s voices and has transformed the support group into a healthy, creatively-charged writing community.

As reported by Northview Heights Support Center by Program Director Sara Nevels: “The women are dedicated to the group and to each other allowing for an easy sharing of work at a very personal level. In turn, the women feel their voices are being heard and their stories are important to both their own personal process and evolution, as well as helpful and therapeutic for others.”

Teaching artist Hudson Rush states, “This is just the beginning of what is to be a force to be reckoned with as the women journey through bookmaking, audio recordings, podcasts, interviews and plenty more performances throughout 2016. Be a part of this writing revolution from the very beginning!”

A Reading: By The Women Writers of Northview Heights will take place on Thursday, December 10, at 6:00 pm at Neu Kirche Contemporary Art Center, located at 1000 Madison Avenue in neighboring East Deutschtown.
