(412) Slam! – Annual Slam Competition Comes to Alphabet City

City of Asylum @ Alphabet City, located at 40 West North Avenue, is the permanent home for City of Asylum programming and the arts. It is a hub for Pittsburgh’s readers and writers, jazz and small-scale music and performance, and artistic experimentation. It is a home for diverse voices from around the globe – a place where Pittsburgh meets the world and the world meets Pittsburgh. The Pittsburgh Poetry Collective is proud to present its annual slam competition. This event will select the spoken word poet who will represent the city of Pittsburgh at the Individual World Poetry Slam 2018, in San Diego California! Spoken Word Poets will compete in 3 rounds of slam with 3 different time limits, using their own original work, with no props, no costumes, and no musical accompaniment to assist them. The Pittsburgh Poetry Collective charges $10 at the door.
