City of Asylum Bookstore Hosts Young Readers Book Club

Launched by City of Asylum Bookstore‘s children’s book experts, Jen and Brittney, the Young Readers Book Club is for readers age 8-15 and will focus on diverse books. Members will read a new novel each month and have a chance to engage in fun activities. This month’s selection of the Young Readers Book Club is A Good Kind of Trouble by Lisa Moore Ramée.

From debut author, Lisa Moore Ramée, comes this funny and big-hearted debut novel about friendship, family, and standing up for what’s right. Twelve-year-old Shayla is allergic to trouble. All she wants to do is to follow the rules. But in junior high, it’s like all the rules have changed. Now she’s suddenly questioning who her best friends are and some people at school are saying she’s not black enough. Wait, what?

The Young Readers Book Club will take place virtually on Sunday, April 18 at 11:00 am. If you are interested in receiving more information, or signing up your favorite young reader, email Jen.
