City of Asylum @ Alphabet City, located at 40 West North Avenue, is the permanent home for City of Asylum programming and the arts. It is a hub for Pittsburgh’s readers and writers, jazz and small-scale music and performance, and artistic experimentation. It is a home for diverse voices from around the globe – a place where Pittsburgh meets the world and the world meets Pittsburgh. Writers in the Gardens
Saturday, August 4 from 5:00 to 6:30 pm
This unique literary event takes groups of audience members on a short walking tour of City of Asylum’s House Publication gardens. In each garden, a featured poet will treat the audience to short readings. City of Asylum has commissioned the featured writers to create site-specific pieces especially about their assigned gardens. These works will then be published in a special chapbook that attendees will receive for free. The featured Writers in the Gardens will be Sharon DilworthCeleste GaineyMichael Simms, and Sandra Gould Ford.
