Downtown Walking Tours: From Pittsburghese to Klingon

For the first time, the Office of Public Art is offering a public art walking tour in English and Klingon! The tour’s guest speaker will be Andrew Shull-Miller, a Klingon linguist from Virginia who has translated commercials, an opera, and Shakespeare’s sonnets into the Klingon language. Shull-Miller worked with Marc Okrand, the creator of the Klingon language, to be able to accurately interpret the Walking Tours. Okrand and Shull-Miller created new words in Klingon to specifically talk about public artwork in Pittsburgh. Shull-Miller will be providing his Klingon language expertise to lead tours of public artwork in Downtown Pittsburgh, as well as on the Northside.

The Downtown tours are scheduled:

  • November 4 – 12:00 pm
  • November 5 – 12:00 pm

The Downtown Tour will start in the East Lobby of the Convention Center.  Each tour will be an hour and a half long and will be offered in both English and Klingon. For more information, or to purchase your tickets, visit the Klingon Public Art Walking Tour event page or the Facebook event page.
