City of Asylum @ Alphabet City, located at 40 West North Avenue, is the permanent home for City of Asylum programming and the arts. It is a hub for Pittsburgh’s readers and writers, jazz and small-scale music and performance, and artistic experimentation. Free Association Reading Series

Enjoy an intimate evening of readings with exceptional writers co-curated by Pat Hart and Marc Nieson of the Free Association Reading Series. Featured writers include poet Malcom Friend, visual artist and story-teller Joann Kielar, poet Barbara Edelman, and poet Ellen McGrath Smith. The Free Association Reading Series (FARS) is for established and emerging Pittsburgh writers of prose, poetry, and non-fiction. Alphabet City is the winter home of FARS.
