Jaimeo Brown: International Suite
Saturday, September 29 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm
The music of the trio takes root in African American songs, sampling spirituals and work songs and inherently making international connections. Featured musicians for the evening are Jaimeo Brown on drums and electronics, Chris Sholar on guitar and electronics, and Jaleel Shaw on alto sax and electronics. Between sets, these musicians will also collaborate with Osama Alomar, one of the most well-respected Arabic poets writing today, and a prominent practitioner of the Arabic al-qisa al-qasira jiddan, or “very short story;” Lauren Russell, author of What’s Hanging on the HushJenny Johnson, author of In Full Velvet; and poet Javier Zamora for a jazz and poetry interlude.
