Jazz Trio Performs at City of Asylum

Come to City of Asylum for an evening of jazz with Ches Smith with Craig Taborn and Mat Maneri. The three New York City-based musicians will offer sounds that you’ve never previously encountered with a combination of viola, piano, and percussion.

The trio’s latest collaboration, The Bell, features dynamic chamber music compositions written for masterful improvisers. It begins with the sound of the bell that gives the album its title, and the music seems to flow outward from there. The Bell was one of the very first pieces Ches Smith wrote for his new trio with Craig Taborn and Mat Maneri and almost a blueprint for what follows.

The Jazz Trio: Ches Smith with Craig Taborn and Mat Maneri will perform on Thursday, February 25 at City of Asylum. This is a free performance. Reception begins at 7:00 pm, followed by the performance at 7:30 pm. Dessert and an informal discussion starts at 8:30 pm. For more information,  or to reserve your free seat, visit the City of Asylum’s Jazz Trio event page, email Hannah Waltz, or call 412-323-0278.
