Neighborhood-wide Holiday Decoration Contest

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Mexican War Streets Society has chosen to hold a neighborhood-wide Decoration Contest Holiday Party this year! Everyone and anyone who lives in the Mexican War Streets can sign up to participate in the contest.

Decorate your Stoop, Façade, Gardenscape, or Sidewalk with fun and festive Holiday Decorations! Winners will receive a special gift from the MWSS!

Holiday Walking Tour

Be sure to take a walk through our Mexican War Streets neighborhood to enjoy the holiday scenery! In addition to our beautiful neighborhood, there are 35 homes festively decorated for the Mexican War Streets Society Decorating Contest and Holiday Walking Tour.

The self-guided Holiday Walking Tour will take place from 5:00 to 10:00 pm on Saturday, December 12 and Sunday, December 13. The suggested starting point is Mechanics Retreat Garden, located at the corner of Buena Vista and Jacksonia Streets. From there, a map will guide you to all of the homes that have been decorated. You can find the Tour Map online. There will also be printed maps in a drop box at the entrance of Mechanics Retreat Garden, as well as Commonplace Coffee, Mayfly Market, Randyland, and Allegheny YMCA.

You will be able to vote online for your favorite decorated home starting on Saturday, December 12. Voting will be open until 11:59 pm on Friday, December 18.
