Sembène Film Festival: Saxophone Colossus

Come to Alphabet City for a screening of Saxophone Colossus presented by Sembène – The Film & Art Festival. Robert Mugge’s Saxophone Colossus is a feature-length portrait of Tenor saxophone master Sonny Rollins, viewed as the greatest living jazz improviser. The film is named after one of his most celebrated albums. The project began in May of 1986 and follows the artist and his wife Lucille Rollins around the globe.
