Storytelling Workshop: Children Finding Their Creative Voice

City of Asylum Bookstore is offering a Storytelling Workshop for children age 8-12 years old. Starting with their own imagination and personality, participants will learn how to tell their story through games and activities, and by engaging with stories from around the world. They will learn techniques that bring their story alive through articulation, pacing, character vocalization, and expression.

Sessions for the Storytelling Workshop will be held on 12 weekdays, from Monday, July 17 to Tuesday, August 1 at Alphabet City, located at 40 West North Avenue. Each session runs from 3:00 until 5:00 pm. The final session will be a live group performance on the Alphabet City stage! The Workshop Leader is Jen Kraar, former Winchester Thurston school librarian, and current children’s book buyer and storyteller for City of Asylum Bookstore. The cost for the Storytelling Workshop is $120; scholarships are available. Enrollment is limited and only a few spots remain. For more information, or to reserve a space, email workshop leader Jen Kraar.
