Combatting Summer Slide with Free Summer Meals at the Library

This year, Carnegie Library will add meals to its list of summer offerings to offset summer slide, or summer learning loss. Ensuring Pittsburgh youth have access to free food during summer vacation is incredibly important because good nutrition is essential for learning.

Be sure to stop by the Northside libraries every weekday for hands-on activities, crafts, games, and meals with friends!

  • Carnegie Library – Allegheny – 1230 Federal Street
Summer Meals will begin on Tuesday, June 13 and run Monday-Friday for ten weeks.
Lunch will be from 12:00 to 1:00 pm.
  • Carnegie Library – Woods Run – 201 Woods Run Avenue
Summer Meals will begin on Monday, June 19 and run Monday-Friday for nine weeks.
Lunch will be from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm and an afternoon snack will be from 3:00 to 4:00 pm.
