Take the Fineview Urban Step Challenge

Celebrating its 20th year, Fineview’s Step Challenge is a rugged 5-mile run and hike through one of Pittsburgh’s “Finest” Northside hill top neighborhoods. You will go up and down huge stairways and hills, through the woods and along residential streets, and end at the scenic Catoma Street Overlook

The Challenge is not only the race, but also the trail itself! There are 47 turns marked with flags to guide you over the ever-changing terrain to keep you from getting lost along the way. Interesting sites along the course include the Henderson-Metz House, one of the best examples of Gothic Revival in Pittsburgh, and Heathside Cottage, a classic example of early Victorian design. You will face the mammoth Rising Main Steps – which is the equivalent to climbing a 17-story building – before you can cross the finish line where you will see one of the best views in the city!

Sponsored by the Fineview Citizens Council, the Fineview Step Challenge takes place on Saturday, October 17. The Challenge begins at 9:00 am at Howard Street and East North Avenue. Awards will be given at the Catoma Street Overlook in Fineview.

Reservations can be made online now. All proceeds benefit Fineview Citizen’s Council and their efforts to beautify their neighborhood.
