The Tiffany Concert Series presents “Spring Into Jazz” at the Calvary United Methodist Church. The Jazz Conspiracy will play the music of Sammy Nestico, a Pittsburgh native who was a renowned arranger and composer of big band music.
During his career, Sammy Nestico arranged music for the Count Basie Orchestra for roughly 20 years. A trombonist as well, he played in the big bands of Tommy Dorsey, Woody Herman, Gene Krupa, and Charlie Barnet. Allegheny Historic Preservation Society is happy to share with you some of his finest works – with popular selections by big band composers, Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey.
Sponsored by the Allegheny Historic Preservation Society, “Spring into Jazz” will be performed on Sunday, April 26, at 4:00 pm. The concert will be held at the historic Calvary United Methodist Church, located at 971 Beech Avenue in neighboring Allegheny West.
