City of Asylum @ Alphabet City, located at 40 West North Avenue, is the permanent home for City of Asylum programming and the arts. It promises to be a hub for Pittsburgh’s readers and writers, jazz and small-scale music and performance, and artistic experimentation. It is a home for diverse voices from around the globe – a place where Pittsburgh meets the world and the world meets Pittsburgh. It also serves as a home for many partnering artists and organizations in our own community. To view all of the events that are scheduled, visit the City of Asylum @ Alphabet City website.

Tony Campbell Jazz and Huang Xiang
Wednesday, April 12 at 8:00 pm
Spend your evening enjoying a free jazz poetry collaboration between local jazz favorite Tony Campbell and the first City of Asylum writer-in-exile, Huang Xiang. Local Pittsburgher and Saxophonist Tony Campbell plays “straight ahead” jazz inspired by the legendary masters such as Coltrane, Parker, and Turrentine. In addition to performing regularly around town, Tony is actively involved with Jazz education. Joining Tony will be Antonio Croes on piano, Miles Jackson on bass, Ben Sherman on guitar, and Paul Keys on drums.
