Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church, City of Asylum and the Young Men & Women’s African Heritage Association offer a break from the Christmas juggernaut during their Winter Solstice Celebration… to bask in a little light amid the dark night. Soak in an evening of refugee poets, singing bards, musicians, and, if you like, a nibble and a bit of grog. The evening features:
- Osama Alomar: Syrian Author & City of Asylum Writer-in-Residence
- Tuhin Das: Bangladeshi Poet & City of Asylum Writer-in-Residence
- Shawn MacIntyre: Traditional Celtic Vocalist
- YMWAHA Steel Pan Drums
- A group howl
- and more!
The Winter Solstice Celebration will be held on Saturday, December 16 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church, located at the corner of West North Avenue and Resaca Place. Drinks and refreshments will be provided. A suggested donation of $5 will support the “Glad We’re Neighbors” summer event, welcoming refugees and immigrants in the Northside.
