Discover and Learn at Science Workshops at Carnegie Science Center

Have fun discovering and learning about tons of new science topics during the Science Workshops at Carnegie Science Center!  For more information about any of the workshops listed below, or to register for any of the classes, visit the Science Workshops event page, or call 412-237-1637. Advance registration is required for all workshops.

Preschool Adventures: It’s Magnetic (Ages 4 – 5) 
Monday, December 5 – from 1:00 to 2:00 pm
Participants will “stick together” as they explore the properties of magnets through fun games and experiments. Make your own magnetic craft to take home.

Minecraft (Ages 10 – 12) 
Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11 – 1:00 to 4:00 pm
Put your Minecraft engineering skills to the test in this two-day workshop. Design and build on a cooperative Minecraft server, then watch as your creation prints on a 3D-printer.

Family Workshop: LED Ornaments (Ages 6+) 
Sunday, December 11 – 1:00 to 3:00 pm
Combining science with creativity never looked so festive! Make a light-up holiday ornament and learn the science behind these sparkling little semiconductors.

Programming with Scratch (Ages 6-10) 
Sunday, December 11 – 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
Combine creativity, math, and computer skills in this introduction to programming. Use the simple language of Scratch to create your own interactive games and animations.
