The Arab Spring: Where Are We Today?

Come to City of Asylum’s Alphabet City Tent for a discussion and book signing with policy analyst and author Shelly Culbertson. In The Fires of Spring: A Post-Arab Spring Journey Through the Turbulent New Middle East, author Shelly Culbertson narrates a journey through six countries (Tunisia, Turkey, Iraq, Jordan, Qatar, and Egypt), seeking to understand how the Arab Spring shaped the Middle East. Her work tells the stories of protest leaders, government officials, journalists, business leaders, and others – and describes their ideas as well as conflicting points of view.

Culbertson is a policy analyst at the RAND Corporation. She is currently conducting research about urban services, education, and employment for Syrian refugees in Jordan, Turkey, and Lebanon.
