Located just across the Allegheny River from downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Allegheny City Central is a walkable, bike-friendly, and commuter-friendly neighborhood.

The Mexican War Streets section of Allegheny City Central is designated both federally and by the City of Pittsburgh as a historic Victorian-era district. The streets, named after battles and leaders of the Mexican-American War, are lined with carefully restored row houses. Many feature Italianate facades, Greek revival doorways, and Richardsonian Romanesque stonework.

If you’re looking for something to do, you won’t have to go far. Within Allegheny City Central, you’ll find destinations such as The Mattress Factory, City of Asylum/Pittsburgh, National Aviary, Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, New Hazlett Theater, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Randyland, and more. Additional attractions within walking distance include Heinz Field, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and PNC Park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Plus, the world-renowed Andy Warhol Museum, Rivers Casino, Stage AE, and the Carnegie Science Center — including the Rangos Omnimax Theater — are also nearby.

Our commercial district is growing. Residents have easy access to health care at Allegheny General Hospital… education through the Pittsburgh Public Schools… a neighborhood grocer, pub, deli, and coffee shop… houses of worship representing all denominations… the lush Allegheny Commons Park… and the Three Rivers Heritage Trail.

Allegheny City Central is at the heart of Pittsburgh’s North Side. Neighboring communities include the North Shore, Allegheny West, East Allegheny (Deutschtown), Manchester, Allegheny Center, California-Kirkbride, Perry South, and Fineview. Much of this part of the North Side was once the City of Allegheny before it was annexed by Pittsburgh in 1907.

Planning a visit? Consider a stay at the stately Inn on the Mexican War Streets, the charming Parador Inn or The Priory Hotel. Or, try one of numerous hotels on the North Shore or across the Allegheny River in downtown Pittsburgh. You’ll fine restaurants for every taste and budget in the area.

Want to linger longer? Allegheny City Central is a great location for homeowners and renters alike. Whether you’re looking for a restored historic property, new construction, or want to roll up your sleeves and do it yourself, a range of housing options awaits you.

Check out all that our community has to offer and consider Allegheny City Central as your new home. We’d love to call you “neighbor.”
