Out of the Box: Time Capsule Opening

On Friday, February 6, join Warhol Museum’s Chief Archivist Matt Wrbican, Time Capsules Cataloguer Erin Byrne, and special guest Benjamin Liu, as they take a look inside one of Andy Warhol’s mysterious boxes. Benjamin Liu is a former personal and studio assistant for Warhol and co-author of the book, Unseen Warhol.

Warhol was an avid collector of art, Fiestaware, photographs, newspapers, dental molds and especially the minutiae of his daily life. In 1974, Warhol began filling the first of his 600 Time Capsules with source material, correspondence and clothing. The Time Capsules reflect more than Warhol’s personal life – they act as an insightful snapshot of the time and contain a wealth of information for researchers.

The Time Capsule Opening will begin at 7:00 pm in the Warhol Theater of the Andy Warhol Museum. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit Out of the Box: Time Capsule Opening event page.
