Carrying Homelessness Exhibit at Allegheny Commons Park

Carrying Homelessness is a civic engagement project that aims to tell stories, build empathy, and work to end the stigma around the issue of homelessness. It was conceived by a group of students at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Design in partnership with the City of Pittsburgh.

Carrying Homelessness will be hosting a Pop-up Exhibit in Allegheny Commons Park that will provide an insight into homelessness by illuminating narratives of people who lived through, or are currently experiencing homelessness. During the event, you will have an opportunity to take a Journey Through Homelessness with an interactive activity simulating the experience of homelessness in the Pittsburgh community. Attendees will be given playing cards that guide them through the exhibit and unhinge a set of life choices that determine their level of housing insecurity. The activity will demonstrate how health, money, and personal relationships combine with social inequality to shape the journey of homelessness.

The Pop-Up Exhibit will be held on Saturday, November 18 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at Allegheny Commons Park. For more information, visit the Carrying Homelessness Pop-Up Exhibit event page.
