Children’s Museum Celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. Day

On Martin Luther King Jr. DayChildren’s Museum remembers the contributions Dr. King and so many others made to the Civil Rights Movement and contemplate all the ways we can make change in our own community. In celebration of holiday, the Children’s Museum and The Saturday Light Brigade (SLB) will be hosting featured programs and events on Monday, January 20 from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm:

  • King for a Day: 11:00 am to 3:00 pm
    Read the speeches of Dr. King at the microphone in the “King for a Day” program hosted by The Saturday Light Brigade Radio Show. All ages are invited to take the podium at this annual event. 
  • Streaming Justice: 12:00 to 4:00 pm
    Hosted by area teens, SLB Radio Productions and Youth Express present a live 4-hour webcast exploring civil rights accomplishments, challenges, and dreams for the future.
  • Using Your Voice: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
    Come to the Art Studio to explore many different ways to express yourself and use our own voice through art! From zines, to signs, to collages – how can you relay your thoughts through your art making?
