The film won the World Cinema Audience Award in the Dramatic category at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, along with other awards in Cartagena, Montreal, Miami, Chicago, Utrecht, Lima, and Galway, Madrid, San Francisco, Seattle, and Philadelphia.

The free screening of Contracorriente will be shown on Monday, June 6, from 7:30 to 10:00 pm at City of Asylum’s Alphabet City Tent, located at 318 Sampsonia Way.
