Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance Brings Fresh Farm Produce to You
Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance is a farmer-owned cooperative in Southwestern Pennsylvania. As a group of more than 30 member farms they deliver fruits, vegetables, and other farm foods to customers in the Pittsburgh area through Community Supported Agriculture subscriptions and online Farm Stands. Allegheny City Central is fortunate that the Children’s Museum is a host site for both of these programs.
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) – Get an Early Bird Discount!
The Penn’s Corner CSA delivers boxes of farm fresh produce to the Children’s Museum from April through November. Each box will have between 7-10+ items per week. Almost every week will include seasonal fruit, and another non-vegetable item such as wild honey, free-range eggs, local cheese, or fresh pasta.
Sign up now and receive an early-bird discount if shares are purchased before Saturday, January 31. In 2015, Penn’s Corner is offering the 32-week Farmer’s Friend, the 24-week Harvest, the 12-week bi-weekly Harvest, and the 8-week Cabin Fever shares. The discount is $30 off the Farmer’s Friend share, $20 off the Harvest share and $10 off the Cabin Fever share. Learn more details by visiting the Community Sponsored Agriculture web page.
Farm Stand Program
North Side residents can conveniently pick up fresh locally grown grocery products all year round. The Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance – Farm Stand Program makes a stop in the North Side at the Children’s Museum between 4:00 and 6:30 pm bi-weekly throughout the year. There is no commitment to purchase regularly, and no minimum order. Shoppers can order fresh products, such as apples, eggs, olive oil, coffee, cider, cheese, meat, pasta, flour, jam, fresh greens, herbs, carrots, potatoes and other root vegetables, winter squash, garlic, yogurt, butter, coleslaw, pickles, milk, mushrooms, salsa and more!
Once a shopper pre-orders the products they wish to purchase, Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance will collect what has been ordered from local farmers and bring the items to the Children’s Museum.
