Family Workshops at Carnegie Science Center

Family Workshops offer family bonding with a scientific twist on select Sundays from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. For ages 6 and up!

Ice Cold Science

Sunday, February 21 – 1:00 to 3:00 pm

How cold is COLD? Build a tower out of “hot ice” and experience how a polar bear stays warm in the water. Go on an arctic excavation, then create a frozen masterpiece with ice chalk. 

Awesome Astronomy

Sunday, March 20 – 1:00 to 3:00 pm

Explore distant planets, train to be an astronaut, and discover the stellar beauty of galaxies far, far away from the Earth. This family workshop will be out of this world!

Programming with Scratch

Sunday, April 17 – 1:00 to 3:00 pm

Combine the simple programming language of Scratch with your imagination to create your own interactive stories, animations, or games. While creating Scratch projects, participants learn important mathematical and computational ideas, learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively.

Be a Scientist

Sunday, May 15 – 1:00 to 3:00 pm

Dabble in the sciences as you try out chemistry, biology, physics, and more. Find out how to fool your nervous system, create some colorful chemical reactions, and get creative with Newton’s Laws of Motion all in one workshop!
