City of Asylum @ Alphabet City, located at 40 West North Avenue, is the permanent home for City of Asylum programming and the arts. It is a hub for Pittsburgh’s readers and writers, jazz and small-scale music and performance, and artistic experimentation. It is a home for diverse voices from around the globe – a place where Pittsburgh meets the world and the world meets Pittsburgh. Come to an evening of jazz with Chris Parker and David Throckmorton. Parker/Throckmorton is an exciting trio that draws from jazz, rock, avant garde, classical music, world music, and hip hop. They have a wide array of influences such as: John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, Bartok, and Led Zepplin. The musicians of Parker/Throckmorton are part of a Pittsburgh residency called Space Exchange that has been going on for over five years.
