Poets Naomi Shihab Nye, Michael Simms, & Friends. Presented with Vox Populi
Thursday, July 1 at 7:00 pm
The United Nations recently declared Israel to be an apartheid state. Naomi Shihab Nye, the current Young People’s Poet Laureate, and poet Michael Simms gather international poets to share works that navigate themes of identity, displacement, and home in Gaza. Naomi Shihab Nye is a poet, songwriter, and novelist. Her works include poetry, young-adult fiction, picture books, and novels. Michael Simms has been active in politics and poetry for over 40 years as a writer, teacher, editor, and community activist. This is a virtual-only event streamed online via City of Asylum @ Home.
