City of Asylum @ Alphabet City, located at 40 West North Avenue, is the permanent home for City of Asylum programming and the arts. It is a hub for Pittsburgh’s readers and writers, jazz and small-scale music and performance, and artistic experimentation. Come to Alphabet City for a screening of Panomundo presented by Sembène-The Film & Art Festival. The first of a series, Panomundo Part 1: The Evolution of the Steelpan is a look at the history ​of the steelpan, or steel drum, from its inception ​in Trinidad and Tobago, to its gaining of international recognition at the Festival of Britain in 1951, and the impact of the steelpan around the world today.
