City of Asylum @ Alphabet City, located at 40 West North Avenue, is the permanent home for City of Asylum programming and the arts. It is a hub for Pittsburgh’s readers and writers, jazz and small-scale music and performance, and artistic experimentation. Enjoy a family-friendly afternoon of storytelling with Ceinwen King-Smith. Ceinwen has traveled to China to teach English, taught mathematics in Canada and Brazil as well as in various public and private schools in the United States, and spent a year teaching and studying in Poland. She taught English as a second language for 22 years at Pittsburgh’s Connelley Technical Institute and Adult Educational Center. Her last eleven years were spent at the Pittsburgh Gifted Center, where she taught Russian, Chinese and world cultures.
