Texture Contemporary Ballet is excited to open its fifth season with Strength & Grace, a spectacular presentation of athleticism and elegance. The performance run will feature both Texture resident dancers and guest dancers from across the country.
The performance includes:
- Artistic Director Alan Obuzor will not only be premiering a new ballet, but also setting a work he choreographed in 2006. Feel of Fire, a ballet for 12 dancers, is danced to music by composers Pierri, Meyers and Piazzolla.
- Associate Artistic Director Kelsey Bartman is collaborating with singer and costume designer Krysta Bartman for her new ballet. The piece will reflect on the women of the United States during the era of World War II.
- Gabriel Gaffney Smith will be presenting work to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach.
- Darren McArthur will be premiering a new work to the music of Taylor Knight.
Presented by Texture Contemporary Ballet, Strength & Grace will be performed at the New Hazlett Theater from Thursday, July 16 to Sunday, July 19. A special children’s performance on Saturday, July 18 at 3 pm.
