The Speed of Sound
Friday, September 28 to Sunday, September 30
Music takes center stage as Texture Contemporary Ballet presents The Speed of Sound at the New Hazlett Theater. This program features world premieres by Artistic Directors Alan Obuzor and Kelsey Bartman, each utilizing dynamic musical selections that are filled with a multitude of layered tempos, tonality, and emotion. Alan Obuzor’s new work is set to music of renowned composer Philip Glass. In this piece, extreme movements and quick footwork keep pace with Glass’s music. The second work features music by Scottish band Frightened Rabbit and pays tribute to lead vocalist and guitarist, the late Scott Hutchison. Filled with passion and artistry, Texture is thrilled to bring music to life in The Speed of Sound!
