The Andy Warhol Museum Sound Series: Duo Cortona

Established in 2004, The Warhol Sound Series features a broad range of artists and bands from around the world that blur genres of contemporary independent music. These live music performances challenge conventional perceptions of art, and provide audiences with diverse performance experiences. The Sound Series is inspired by Warhol’s extensive involvement in music as an album cover designer, manager of the Velvet Underground, and record producer, with connections to bands such as the Rolling Stones, Blondie, and The Cars.

Sound Series: Duo Cortona
Saturday, February 8 at 8:00 pm at The Warhol Theater
Duo Cortona is a contemporary music ensemble dedicated to the creation of works for its unique instrumentation: mezzo-soprano and violin. This ensemble explores new sounds and possibilities for its intimate, expressive, and vital combination. Duo Cortona works to establish a new and thus far unexplored repertoire, pursuing the endless possibilities of this union. They create opportunities for both established and emerging composers through commissions, competitions, educational workshops, university residencies, and major concert performances. This event is co-presented with Music on the Edge series of the University of Pittsburgh Department of Music.
