Two Wheels Lots of Green

Pittsburgh’s Northside has nearly 5,405 vacant lots throughout the 18 Northside neighborhoods. GTECH Strategies has been working with residents and community groups in the Northside for the past three years to turn these liabilities into community assets by helping to build gardens, parklets and play spaces. During the 4th Annual Two Wheels Lots of Green Bike Ride, bikers will be cruising more than 15 miles of the Northside to explore project sites from GTECH’s Green Playces, Asset Inventory Mapping Project, and ReClaim Northside Ambassador Programs.

Held in conjunction with BikePGH’s Bike Fest, this year’s Two Wheels Lots of Green bike ride will take place on Saturday, August 22 starting at 2:00 pm on Pittsburgh’s Northside. Riders will tour community-based greening projects and meet the people who made these projects possible throughout Northside’s diverse neighborhoods. Each one of the stops will have a community host that will take guests on a tour of the space and explain the project’s role in the revitalization of the neighborhood.

Throughout the ride, riders will be provided with refreshments by local eateries to refuel during the tour. The tour will kickoff and conclude at Wigle Whiskey’s Barrelhouse – a former vacant lot- located in the Spring Garden neighborhood. The after-party will be held from 6:00 until 9:00 pm, and will feature live music by White Like Fire, food trucks, and whiskey!
