Federal Street Traffic Study Underway

At the June 9, 2014 ACCA general membership meeting, City of Pittsburgh Councilman Daniel Lavelle confirmed that a traffic study of Federal Street is underway. The study is in response to neighbors’ concerns about how to help prevent speeding and accidents on Federal Street. Over the past few months, multiple vehicles have jumped the curb and ended up in the front yards of Federal Hill town homes. The findings of the traffic study will help the City of Pittsburgh’s department of engineering determine the best approach to address this safety issue.

Councilman Lavelle also reported that a meeting will take place soon to review activity, supervision, and hours of operation for the Jefferson Recreation Center. Recently, neighbors have reported an increase in after-hours noise, lack of supervision, and potential illegal activity at and near the center. The meeting will include representatives from CitiParks, Zone One Police, and residents.
