Great News for our Neighborhood!
Jake Bier, resident of Allegheny City Central, and Zach Ingoldsby are planning to open the War Streets Brewery in our neighborhood in early 2016. Their nanobrewery – a brewery producing less than 100 gallons at a time – and tasting room will be located on the first floor of the historic Firehouse at 1416 Arch Street. Jake and Zach will be producing various styles of beer including IPAs, Stouts, Porters, Lagers, and hope to experiment with new styles as well.
Jake and Zach’s vision is to create a neighborhood brewpub for the Mexican War Streets neighborhood and surrounding communities that will offer a mellow atmosphere for neighbors to meet, drink, and socialize. Their focus will be on producing exceptional beers to be enjoyed in their tasting room and also offer the option of taking beer to go. The War Streets Brewery will not have a kitchen, but instead they will have different food trucks and local restaurants provide food, with an emphasis on pairing meals with different beer styles. Their goal is to give the neighborhood the freshest and most local beer possible. And with beer named Arch Street Amber Ale, Palo Alto Pale Ale, Resaca Red Ale, Buena Vista Brown Ale, what can be more local than that?
Jake and Zach have already signed an 8-year lease with the owner of the Firehouse. They will be appear at the December 10th Hearing of the Zoning Board of Adjustment requesting a Residential Special Exception for commercial use as a malt manufacturer/taproom. At the November 9th ACCA General Membership Meetings, our members voted unanimously for ACCA to send a Letter of Support to the Zoning Board of Adjustment on behalf of the new War Streets Brewery.
War Streets Brewery Tasting Party
Mark your calendars now because the War Streets Brewery’s first event is coming soon! The War Streets Brewery Tasting Party will be held on Saturday, November 28, from 4:00 until 7:00 pm when they will be releasing at least one of their brews for a free tasting.
This is great news for the neighborhood (and city as a whole). These guys really know how to make great beer!
Such exciting news and energizing for the community. Plus, the courage and forward thinking of these brew masters is a great example of embracing traditional beverages and providing a friendly haven for lively discussions. Good luck!
Congratulations to you Zack and Jake! Best of luck in your endeavors! We’ll try to help spread the word!
Awesome guys!! Can’t wait to come hang out!!!!
I usually don’t like the various micro-brews out there, but the beer that Jake has produced before was outstanding. Can’t wait to try more of their new batches.
I would like to purchase a print of this firehouse. Can you please send some information? Thank you so much!
That’s a great idea. Unfortunately, we don’t have any prints of the firehouse.
