Last Sunday 30,000 runners filled the streets of Pittsburgh for the marathon, the half marathon and relay teams. An early part of the 26.2-mile course winds through the North Side on East Ohio Street, Allegheny Commons, and Western Avenue, where neighbors turn out to support runners.

The transformation of an abandoned candy factory into a single-family home earned Allegheny City Central residents Dan Wintermantel and Leslie Vincen top honors in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s 2014 Renovation Inspiration Contest in the large residential category (more than $50,000).

The Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance Farm Stand makes a stop in the North Side at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, 10 Children’s Way, between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. every other Monday throughout the year. The next drop-off date available for orders is Monday, April 21.
